Light in the Darkness
My name is Denise, founder of Fire Island Keepsakes.
My journey into candle-making began in 2001, inspired by the hope I witnessed as New Yorkers carried lit candles after 9/11. While volunteering outside the Javits Center and serving those returning from Ground Zero, I was deeply moved by what candlelight represented — comfort, resilience, and light in the darkness. I began making candles at home, gifting them to family and friends.
From Home to Fire Island Keepsakes
In 2024, after years of perseverance and personal sensitivities, I officially launched Fire Island Keepsakes, creating luxurious natural coconut-apricot wax candles that are clean, phthalate-free, dye-free, vegan, and thoughtfully crafted.
Summers on Fire Island, NY
Spending summers since the 1960s in Ocean Bay Park shaped the soul of my brand. From ferry rides out of Bay Shore to the shores of Ocean Bay Park, Fire Island, NY, and long walks along the beach, those memories of salt air, sea glass, and serenity live in every candle I pour.

Candles to Warm Your Home
Each candle burns 45–60 hours and is packaged in eco-friendly gift boxes. More than fragrance, they are meant to bring warmth, peace, and a gentle glow into your home — a reminder that even the smallest light can brighten the darkest space.
